* Chatumo, Galmudug, Himan a Heeb, Džubaland  - samozvané republiky nebo autonomní republiky, které nějaký čas fungovaly de facto nezávisle, po několika letech ale uznaly Somálskou vládu a vrátily se do federace. V současné době je v procesu přiznání autonomie těmto republikám (fakticky ale autonomně fungují stále).
Situace republiky Himan a Heeb je nejasná, jelikož leží na území Galmudugu (a původně byla jeho součástí).
Chatumo bylo původně samozvanou nezávislou republikou Northland. Část jeho území si nárokuje Somaliland a hranice se často mění.
Část území Džubalandu je pod kontrolou islámských radikálů (napojených na Al-Kájdu).

* Khatumo, Galmudug, Himan and Heeb, Jubaland - self-proclaimed republics or autonomous republics, which functioned de facto independently for some time, but several years later, they recognized Somali government and come back to the federation. The approval of autonomy to these republic is in process currently (in fact the function autonomously still).
Situation of Himan and Heeb is not cleer, because it lies in the territory of Galmudug (and originally was its part).
Khatumo was originally self-proclaimed independent repubglic of Northland. Part of its territory is claimed by Somaliland and the boundary is often changed.
Part of Jubaland territory is under control of Islamic radicals (connected to Al-Qaeda).

* Puntland - self-proclaimed republic, which wants to be a part of new Somali federation (as autonomous unit), but for now (temporarily) functions separately.
Maakhir - former self-proclaimed republic (between Somaliland and Puntland), but it was incorporated to Puntland in 2009. It should be autonomous in new Somalia. Territory is claimed by Somaliland.

* Puntland - samozvaná republika, která chce sice být součástí nové Somálské federace (coby autonomní jednotka), ale zatím (dočasně) funguje samostatně.
Maachir - bývalá samozvaná republika (mezi Somalilandem a Puntalndem), ale v roce 2009 byla připojená k Puntlandu. V novém Somálsku by měla být autonomní. Území si nárokuje Somaliland.

* Somaliland - oficiálně součást Somálska, fakticky naprosto samostatná nezávislá republika, plnohodnotně fungující již více než 20 let (od 1991). Má vlastní ústavu, vládu, ekonomiku, měnu atd.

* Somaliland - officially part of Somalia, in fact absolutely separate independent republic fully functioning for more than 20 years (since 1991). It has own constitution, government, economy, currency etc.

Somálsko jako takové prakticky neexistuje - mapa území bývalého Somálska se velmi rychle mění v závislosti na aktuální situaci - formuje se sice nová Somálská federace, ale v současné době zde stále existuje i několik samozvaných republik, autonomních států a území pod kontrolou různých politických, vojenských a jiných skupin. Federální vláda kontroluje jen malou část okolo hlavního města a pruh země na severozápad.
Hranice administrativních jednotek nekorespondují se skutečností. Fakticky jen Somaliland chce absolutní nezávislost (v hranicích bývalého Britského Somálska), ostatní území jsou pro novou federaci (s četnými autonomními územími), na jihu však velkou část země ovládá radikální islámské hnutí (buňka Al Kájdy), které chce vytvořit Islámský emirát.

Somalia as such practically doesn't exist - map of territory of former Somalia is changing very fast, depending on the current political situation - new Somalian federation is formed, but currently, also several self-proclaimed republics, autonomous states and areas under the control of various political, military and other groups there still exists. Federal government controls only small part around the capital and strip of land to north-west.
The boundaries of administrative divisions don't correspond with the reality. In fact, only Somaliland wants full independence (in the borders of former British Somaliland), the other territories are for new federation (with numerous autonomous lands), however in the south there is large part of the country controlled by radical Islamic movement (cell of Al-Qaeda), witch wants to establish an Islamic Emirate.
