zoo). Existovala až do roku 1974, kdy byla zrušena a zvířata přemístěna
do nového Safari Parku, dodnes je
však celá Saulova zahrada familiárně nazývaná Gan HaKofim (Zahrada
opic). Své jméno si získala díky nejpopulárnějším zvířatům - trojici
makaků. Kromě opic zde byla i řada dalších zvířat... králíci, papoušci,
pávi, holubi, vodní ptáci, želvy a další.
mini zoo, called Monkey Garden that was in the President Garden
(now Shaul Garden). It was founded in 1937 (but open to the public a
year later), thereby was probably actually the first zoo in Israel -
older than Tel Aviv Zoo (oldest
regular zoo). It existed up to 1974, when was abolished and the animals
were moved to new Safari Park,
however the whole Shaul Garden is still familiarly called Gan HaKofim
(Monkey Garden). It has gained its name thanks to the most popular
animals - the trio of macaques. In addition to monkeys, there were also
many other animals ... rabbits, parrots, peacocks, pigeons, waterfowl,
turtles and others. |
