Heinrich Lumpe,
obchodník železářským zbožím, ale zejména významný ornitolog a ochránce
přírody. Po zpřístupnění parku veřejnosti zde vybudoval mnohá romantická
zákoutí a stavby, z nichž se do současnosti zachoval pouze zlomek.
Naučná stezka Lumpeparku zahrnuje 10 zastavení:
1) Lumpeho obří kniha - základní inspirace pro vytvoření naučné
stezky. Toto životní dílo Heinricha Lumpeho obsahuje výstřižky a další
dobové materiály až do roku 1943. Dnes je kniha umístěna v archivu města
Ústí nad Labem.
2) Růžové podloubí - pohádkový vstup do někdejšího areálu tvořil
ptactvo.
8) Pohádková chaloupka - jednalo se o více staveb s pohádkovými
motivy evokujících zejména známé příběhy o Červené karkulce a Perníkové
chaloupce.
9) Umělá jeskyně (Grotta) - pravděpodobně největší atrakce
Lumpeparku. Podzemní snový svět doplněný o světelnou a vodní show
sloužil až do šedesátých let 20. století.
10) Rybníček - středobod původního areálu tvořil rybníček s
vodotryskem umístěný mezi třemi strmými svahy s výhledem do údolí Labe.
The Lumpepark Education Trail was set up as one of the actions on the
occasion of 100 years from Lumpepark to the zoological park in 2008. It
maps important points of the original grounds established to serve as a
private bird reserve in 1908. Dr. h. c. Heinrich Lumpe, a tradesman in
ironware, but namely a noted ornithologist and conservationist, was the
founder. After the park was made available to the public, he developed
many romantic corners and structures there, of which only a few exist
today.
The Lumpepark Education Trail includes 10 points:
1) Lumpe's Giant Book - A base stone that inspired us to create
this trail. Forming a lifetime piece of work of Heinrich Lumpe, this
book contains clips from newspapers and other contemporary material up
to 1943. Today, it is placed in the archive of the Town of Ústí nad
Labem.
2) Rose Arcade - A 96 meters long tunnel covered with a crimson
rambler served as a fairy-tale entrance into the former grounds.
3) Krakonoš Orchard - A stony forest made up of tropical
araucarites several million years old. A huge statue of Krakonoš, the
legendary Czech giant, protecting a small child from a snake, used to be
a dominating point.
4) Stone Oak from Stadice - Another geological attraction in
Lumpepark. Its place of origin was Stadice, the landmark of Czech
history, a small village not very far from here.
5) Heinrichsburg - The only monument that has been fully
preserved. Today known as the Pygmy Castle. This fortress-like structure
served as a fairy-tale attraction; however, there were also 160 hidden
hollows for nesting birds.
6) Mary's Spring - A former water reservoir that served not only
for technical purposes, but also as a piece of architectural art
according to the spirit of the Art Nouveau cast back style.
7) Cat Barriers - A high massive fence fitted with a barbed wire,
set up traps, metal sheets and cloths soaked with a coal oil. It
prevented feral cats threatening the nesting birds to access the area.
8) Fairy-tale Cottage - Several structures in a fairy-tale style
that namely resembled the well-known stories of the Little Red Riding
Hood and the Babes in the Wood.
9) Artificial Cave (Grotta) - Most probably the biggest
attraction in Lumpepark. This underground dream world enhanced by a
lighting and water show was utilised until the 60's of the 20th Century.
10) Little Pond - A centre to the original area formed by a small
pond with a fountain placed among three steep slopes. It provided a
great view of the Elbe River canyon.
