zoo, která vznikla na poměry tehdejší socialistické země poněkud
kuriozně... Místní nadšenec G.I. Polosmak toužil po vlastní zoo
(m.j. i proto že v té době v SSSR nebyla ani jediná zoo v malém
- jen okresním městě)..., proto začal počátkem 70. let na svém
dvorku shromažďovat různá zvířata (veverky, koroptve, papoušky,
ryby, srnky, dvě vlčata). Místní obyvatelé brzy začali
Polosmakův dvůr navštěvovat a nazývat ho zoo... Vlčata se stala
celostátními hvězdami několika sovětských filmů... Situace čím
dál víc zaváněla soukromým vlastnictvím (v socialistických
zemích zakázaným) a tak raději vedení okresu v roce 1975
vyčlenilo areál pro budoucí zoo. Ta byla oficálně založena 1977.
Zoo se brzy stala chloubou svého zakladatele, ale i celého
okresu. Během prvních 5ti let ji navštívilo přes milion lidí,
včetně oficiálních delegací a slavných lidí z Angoly, Kuby,
Guiney-Bissau, Vietnamu, ČSSR, Polska, Bulharska, Francie atd.
Bylo zde okolo 500 druhů zvířat (75 se jich množilo).
S rozpadem Sovětského Svazu však přišlo velmi složité období a
finanční problémy. V místním rozpočtu nebyly na zoo žádné
prostředky. Některá zvířata musela být prodána (lední medvědi,
anakondy, hadilovi, pštrosi...), některá pošla, ale nakonec se
zoologické zahradě podařilo přežít nejhorší období své
existence. V posledních letech se situace stabilizovala, ale
období největší slávy je dávno pryč.
Medvědi, tygři, lvi, primáti, bizoni, kaferští buvoli, gayalové,
nilgau, koně Převalského, jeleni, velbloudi, klokani, pštrosi,
plameňáci, pelikáni, papoušci, krokodýli, hadi, želvy...

national star of several Soviet films... The situation was
increasingly evoking a private property (in the socialist
countries banned) and thus the management of the district prefer
in 1975 allocated premises for future zoo. It was officially
founded 1977. The zoo soon became the pride of its founder, but
also the entire district. During the first 5 years was visited
by over a million people, including official delegations and
famous people from Angola, Cuba, Guinea-Bissau, Vietnam,
Czechoslovakia, Poland, Bulgaria, France, etc. There were about
500 species (75 of them bred).
Nevertheless with the disintegration of the Soviet Union, came a
very difficult period and financial problems. In the district
budget were no funds for the zoo. Some animals had to be sold
(polar bears, anacondas, secretary birds, ostriches...), some
had died, but finally the zoo succeeded to survive the worst
period of its existence. In recent years the situation has
stabilized, but time of the greatest glory is long gone.
Bears, tigers, lions, primates, bison, African buffalos, gayals,
nilgai, Przewalski horses, deer, camels, kangaroos, ostriches,
