History of Jukani Predator Park |
|
|
Jukani Predator Park was established in 2005 as the dream of the owners
Jurg and Karen Olsen. With their team of dedicated staff they share a
passion and love for the “big cats” and wildlife in general.
“We respect each animal's individual personality and their
commitment to be ambassadors for their species at Jukani Predator Park.
It is a privilege to share our lives with these amazing predators”.
Jukani Predator Park is an Institutional member of PAAZAB and
as such an accredited member of the international fraternity of
zoological gardens. This ensures the highest ethical values in keeping
of wildlife, with the PAAZAB executive committee ensuring its` members`
commitment to uphold these values by frequent audits and upgrades of the
internationally accepted standards.
We have designed our enclosures to allow our animal friends
optimum space to play, run and even hide from human eyes if they so
feel. The tree log in Spirit, the black leopard`s, enclosure weighs in
excess of 20 tons and was specially transported from George to Jukani
Predator Park for his enjoyment, as was other logs and enrichment
articles in the enclosures of the other cats.
We believe in respecting our animal friends for what they
are, Apex Predators!! Out of this respect was born a very special
relationship between us and the “big cats” and they allow us to enter
their enclosures and interact with them on a daily basis. The awesome
experience of burrowing your face in the mane of a big male lion, a kiss
from a massive Bengal tiger, the friendly yip from the hyena when
greeting us in the morning or the loud purrrr of a cheetah when enjoying
a cuddle cannot be explained in words, IT IS PURE MAGIC!!
With a visit to Jukani Predator Park we will share our
passion and our wonderful animal friends with you on an informal guided
tour of the facility. You will meet Grompie the oldest male lion, Juka
our Bengal tiger boy, Spirit the black leopard and many others on these
guided tours, not to be missed.
We also have a good relationship with Cape Nature and support
its' strict conservation legislation.
Our Curio and Kiosk boasts items unique to Jukani Predator Park and
provide for the hungry and thirsty.
