Původně jen botanická zahrada (1806), ale v roce 1924 zde byl
založen kroužek "Milovníci přírody" a ten v botanické zahradě
ještě týž rok začal chovat i zvířata (vlk, labutě, orel). O rok
později kroužek založil novou zoo ve dvoře Centrálního muzea a
zvířata sem přestěhoval. Celkem zde bylo 54 druhů savců a ptáků.
V roce 1931 byla zoo přestěhována zpět do Botanické zahrady a
vznikla tak Zoo-botanická zahrada. Za války sem byly evakuovány
desítky zvířat z Leningradské zoo, čímž se Kazaňská
zoo-botanická zahrada stala prakticky Leningradskou filiálkou.
Po válce - v 50. - 70. letech postupně přibývala nová zvířata i
pavilony a dnes je zařízení více zoo než botanická zahrada.
Bohužel je většina zařízení již velmi starých a nevyhovujících.
Mnoho let se mluví o kompletní rekonstrukci, ale ta stále ani
nezačala.
Světově proslulý je chov ledních medvědů, významný je chov
dravých ptáků. Lvi, tygři, levharti, jaguáři, irbisi, rysi,
servali, lední a hnědí medvědi, vlci, dhoulové, nosáli, jezevci,
makaci, kočkodani, hroši, zebry, velbloudi, lamy, pekari,
jeleni, jaci, dravci, sovy, papoušci, pelikáni, bažanti,
krokodýli, ještěrky, hadi, želvy, ryby atd.
Originally a Botanical Garden (1806) only, but in 1924, a circle
"Lovers of nature" there was founded and that began to keep also
animals (wolf, swans, eagle) in the botanical garden - in the
same year. A year later, the circle founded a new zoo in the
yard of the Central Museum and moved animals here. In total
there were 54 species of mammals and birds. In 1931, the zoo
moved back to the Botanical Garden and so Zoo-botanical Gardens
was established. During the war a dozens of animals from the
Leningrad Zoo were evacuated here, by that the Kazan
Zoo-botanical garden became practically Leningrad branch. After
the war - in the 50s - 70s, new animals and pavilions were added
and today the institution is more zoo than botanical garden.
Unfortunately, most of the facilities is already very old and
unsatisfactory. For many years, it is spoken about of complete
renovation, but that even didn't begun still.
World famous is breeding of polar bears, significant is breeding
of birds of prey. Lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, snow
leopards, lynxes, servals, polar and brown bears, wolves,
dholes, coatis, badgers, macaques, green monkeys, hippos,
zebras, camels, llamas, peccaries, deer, yaks, raptors, owls,
parrots , pelicans, pheasants, crocodiles, lizards, snakes,
turtles, fish, etc.

creation Zoo-botanical Gardens; (1937 - 1952 - a
winter branch of the zoo existed in Bauman's street -
then Bolshaya Prolomnaya street)
